Bio
Mike Gregory returned to the helm of Tampa Catholic High School Football in January 2024, bringing nearly 20 years of coaching experience and a proven track record of offensive innovation and player development. Gregory is no stranger to the Tampa Catholic sidelines. He previously served as the Crusaders’ Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator from 2013 to 2017. During those five seasons, the Crusaders won three district championships, two regional championships, had two state-semifinal appearances, and qualified for the FHSAA state playoffs four times. Additionally, 37 players went on to play college football, including numerous Division 1 signees. Prior to his tenure as Head Coach, Gregory led the Crusader offense as the team’s Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for Coach Bob Henriquez from 2009 to 2012, which included a state championship appearance in 2009.
Before his return to Tampa Catholic, Gregory spent 2022 and 2023 seasons as the Offensive Coordinator for the IMG Academy National Team, one of the premier high school football programs in the country. There, he helped develop elite-level talent and led one of the nation’s most explosive offenses, while also assisted in leading the Ascenders to the National HS Preps National Championship following an undefeated season in 2023. During those two seasons, starting QB Jayden Bradford completed over 75% of his passes with 40 TDs and 2 INTs and the Ascender offense averaged over 37 points per game.
From 2019 to 2021, Gregory gained experience at the Division 1 level as an assistant at Georgia Tech. In 2019, Gregory served as the Associate Director of Player Personal; during that recruiting cycle, the Yellow Jackets saw their first top 25 recruiting ranking in over a decade. For the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Gregory moved into an Offensive Analyst role for the Yellow Jackets. In this position, he worked directly with the Georgia Tech running backs and quarterbacks, while also overseeing weekly scouting reports and self-scout projects, assisted with run game and protection game-planning, and managing offensive recruiting. With Gregory’s assistance, the Georgia Tech offense saw improvement in 21 offensive categories between the 2019 and 2020 seasons. During his time in Atlanta, he helped mentor standout running backs Jahmyr Gibbs (Detroit Lions) and Jordan Mason (Minnesota Vikings).
In 2018, Gregory was the assistant head coach and Special Teams Coordinator at Lyon College (NAIA) in Batesville, AR. He would serve in that position for the first half of the season, leading the Scots to a #1 ranking in NAIA for kickoff return yardage per attempt and mentored kicker/punter Ignacio Gomez to an SAC All-Conference season. Following week 5, Gregory was moved into the Offensive Coordinator role, where the Scots saw significant improvement in Points and Yards Per Game, and QB Spencer Childress set a school record for passing yards in a game with 337 vs. Arizona Christian. Childress still owns the school record for passing TDs in a season at Lyon, set in 2018 under Gregory’s tutelage.
Gregory began his coaching career at University High School in Orlando (2006–2009), where he held multiple roles, including Freshman QB Coach, JV Offensive Coordinator, and Varsity QB Coach.
Originally a native of New York, Gregory grew up in the Tampa Bay area, playing Quarterback at River Ridge HS from 2002-2005. He would go on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Central Florida in 2009.
